if i ever play in a tournament or if people ask me what my rating is, what should i say? i play on icc. my blitz rating is 1300 and my standard game rating (anything over 10min) is 1700. which rating is more accurate?
But what is more accurate, national rating or internet rating? New players are given a provisional rating for 10-20 games (depends on the country) so you'd get your first "real" national rating after 2-4 tournaments. I for one play only 10-20 tournament games per year so national rating might not be that accurate in showing if I've improved or not. Internet ratings go up and down but you see the general trend better.
And before you ask, comparing a national rating and ICC -rating is next to impossible. An educated guess would be 1200-1600 but people are very different - some perform badly in tournament games or have trouble adjusting to 2d board etc.
