Whats better:
2 Rooks or a single Queen
2 Knights or 2 Bishop
8 Pawns or a Knight/Bishop and a Rook

This is not a trick, but some GMs and IMs say that X is better than Y and Y is better than X which does confuse people like me so the better public, which is you people, can tell me? The above shows

you've seen me play then - actually it depends on the time of term... in school holidays I play well (don't worry, I'm a teacher, not a spotty kid). In term time give me a queen and 2 rooks and the guy with 2 knights will win. Not far from the lunar cycle though.

If all the pawns are on the seventh rank, then most of the time they are better than a knight or bishop and rook.
