You can easily cheat by using a chess engine. Such behaviour is of course, not acceptable, and could see you banned from RHP

I lost to a 900 (USCF) player several years ago when I managed to go 0-5 in a weekend tournament. At the time, my USCF rating was ~1450.

900..phew. How low-rated is it possible to be in the states?

In the USCF rating system 100 is the rating floor for all those with established ratings below 1600. Once a player achives 1600, 1400 becomes his or her floor.

Someone I'm sure would correct me if I'm wrong, but the USCF used to have as its lowest rating 1200, you could never go below that... perhaps Finland has a floor such as that. For some reason or another, USCF decided that there was room for much lower ratings to exist, as there must have been tons of people who were always 1200 playing 1200 and never getting anywhere.

I don't think there is a floor in FCF. lowest rated player in FCF seems to be Anelma Paasikangas with the rating of 966 and 105 rated games. way to go anelma! 🙂 there are only 226 players under 1200, from the total 7798. not much.

I think it's because we don't have scholastic chess. those who take part in tournaments are already somewhat experienced players and take chess seriously.

In the other hand...

Game 6460416.

Of course, it´s only I stopped to play 4 months with many games in progress.
For the records: in the previous game, my rating was 1415 against 861; now, my rating was 987 against 1490.

I lost to a 872 USCF. I'm about 1560 USCF right now.

Here is the position:

I threw away the notation sheet in a rage, so this might not be the exact position. However, the important stuff is there.

I glanced at the board for about 3 seconds, spotted a well known mating net, and played Qg1+. It was only about 1 second later that I noticed the piece on h3 was a rook, not a knight.

The worst part is that Qh5 or Qf2 would have been completly winning. It was a blitz game :'(

Game 3155710 He was rated 968 at the time. But in my defence this game was played 2 and 1/2 years ago, when I was rated 1300😳
