He moves king pawn2. I move queen pawn 2. He takes me. I take his pawn with my queen. He brings knight out to threaten my queen.

Is this familiar. What's a good way of attacking a King-pawn opener?

Why can't I learn all the proper short-hand for pieces?

Hope you aren't referring to Game 1482474.

Can tell you that it is the centre-counter game (aka Scandinavian Defence), but cannot discuss any more than that until the game is over.

There's no reason why you can't. There's any number of websites that explain it. Here's one:

http://www.uschess.org/beginners/read/

You should take the time to familiarize yourself with it; people take you more seriously if you can refer to moves with actual notation rather than descriptions.

No, good point, of course I don't want help. It's about the 10th time it's happened though. I'll ask again when I've lost :-)

I'm not entirely sure I want to be taken seriously. That sounds a little too growed up!

'growed up'? Sounds as if there is not too much danger for that 😀

heh heh. true. I've just looked up the scandinavian defense and it was first recorded in 1435!!!
I love this species sometimes, that people were discussing exactly this nearly 600 years ago, probably when they were supposed to be working too. I'm not trying to cheat on my game you understand. My rating will happily testify to that.

Simplicity borders to idiocy. As Einstein put it:" try to explain things as simple as possible, but not more simple."
