Just wondering whether (or not) the opposing player can object to it and turn the pieces the other way round? Does the chess laws permit this or is it just an etiquette/sportmanship kinda thing?

I have them both in prfile facing in toward their king. One opponent actually remarked on this as I adjusted the pieces before our game started. I couldn't stop thinking about it the whole time (is that better or worse than daydreaming about girls 50-75% of the time?).

Until now Ive always placed the knights facing towards the left. But I like the "opponents can look at their asses" thing so much Im going to do that from now on.
