Why did my opponent resign this game?!

I don't have the slightest idea.

I had an opponent resign when he was beating me. When I asked him why, he confessed that he had been cheating by using a chess analysis engine.

did you ask him? Perhaps he was annoyed with you playing on ..... (joke)

If it was the most recent game in the challenge to finish then perhaps he looked at the other in progress game and decided that this challenge was decided so he resigned the game to reduce game load.

Yeah it's not a good reason but it's something.

I will be off for all of August with my wedding / honeymoon. At the current rate we are moving we will not have finished this game. I would not expect anyone to wait a month for me to move. I would rather resign than just leave the game in limbo for a month as that would not be fair on you.

I would not worry about it too much, I left you a message thanking you for the game so you knew it was nothing to do with you.
