Game 4043105
My rating prior this game was 1630, my opponent's 1295.
I won the game.
My rating after the game is 1618, my opponent's 1307.
Maybe I'm missing something but that looks like a bug to me....

Edit - OK, I had my fun. Please read the FAQ, the answer's there.
Originally posted by Joan34For your 1st 20 games your rating is worked out based on the average rating of the players you have met so far so if your average opponent is say 1800 after 8 games and you have a 75% score your rating might be p2000.

Now you win your 9th game against a 1200 player making the average rating of your opponents 1733 for a 77.77% score but because the average rating of your opponents is lower your rating is now only p1950 (note that before you won you were 200 points above the average grade of your opponents and now you are 216 points above it so your rating has shown an increase against your average opponent.
Please note these % and ratings are given as approximate examples only to show how it works. Actual grades may be somewhat different
Interesting, thanks a bunch for the info, especially to DragonFire, I didn't know that. Even more interesting that the losing side, even if not provisional, gains point from a loss... (good for him, I'm certainly not complaining for that!)
Oh well, now that I have a better idea of what my rating on this site is I'll find player of similar strength. I have only one game with a big rating difference left, I guess that will be another drop...
Thanks again
