I'm a sucker for sacrifices. Like my profile says I go for them sometimes when they are VERY unsound but there's nothing like forcing a win by throwing your pieces at your opposition. Here's a recent game I like. I know I had 300 point rating advantage but I did see the mate from the point I gave him the pawn on g4. And giving up 2 bishops plus rook for a mate is always fun!

Did he have a way out I missed after he took my rook?Game 1089727

very impressive, but i have to ask did you actually read it all from the start of the sacrifice? if so I'm doubly impressed as i couldn't see it.

Game 799713 -- a knight and two rook sacrifices followed by mate in a few moves. Probably not sound, but funπŸ™‚

That did look like fun, but your opponent could've just taken the second rook gift too. If Qh1+ then Kf2 and there is no attack and you would've been down a ton of material.

after the bishop sacrifice on move 9, i don't think there was any way for him to prevent mate. can anyone confirm this?

After 27...Rxg3+ the mate is forced, either as AlokSinghal describes or 28.Kf2 Qxh2+ 29. any Qe2#

From a dodgy opening variation, if black doesn't take the knight on c3 he gets a good game so not one to be recommended.

some replies:
ssushi - yup I wondered would you find this thread! I knew I knew I knew not to take that Bishop... but then I did πŸ™
ouermyhte - he could have avoided mate (for a while) by trading Q for N early.
Steve Todd - when I say I saw it what I mean is I THOUGHT I saw it. That's why some of my sacs very unsound. After Rhg1 (NOT rdg1 cos I wanted his horsey far away)) I had all following moves in da notebook
Ark13 - I like that one best too
Freddie2004 - Lovely Q-sac. It's a variation of a famous mating pattern that name escapes me now

but my favourite was demonseed. gets my rec.
