I 've heard GRANDMASTERS say that the only way for a GRANDMASTER to study opening theory correctly is to talk to a lowly class rated chess player. They're professionals at opening theory, and probably know the names of a hundred openings. It's a wonder their rating never increases: Tactics, tactics, tactics! Endgame, Endgame, Endgame! how do you know all the names of that stuff?

I do look over a range of openings but devote most time to the following:
As white:
1 e4
Kings Indian Attack against the sicilian and the french (an attempt to avoid the theory)
The Scotch is my next in line for study
As black:
Against 1e4: The pirc initially because I liked the name but I've grown to love it and intend to stay thru good times a ...[text shortened]... end more time on tactics and endings than openings - always aiming for rapid improvement๐๐
