"After this" refers to after Darvlay has played 20702 moves. If he then played 1012 moves, he'd have 21714 moves, and not 21712 as you claimed. If he played 1010 moves "after the 2", he's have 21712, and not 20702 as you wrote.

I believe that you understood the answer. You just mistyped it. What you wrote was incorrect though clearly you knew what you were talking about.
