What is the maximum number of bishops you can put on a chess board before one of them is able to take another bishop?

Darn...I made two pyramids of bishops, may white bishops attack other white bishops?

With the 'play from set piece' option...if you create two pyramids and count properly, you shall see that there can be 32! Whit can attack white and black can attack black...just not white vs. black!
Originally posted by jot I can get 14. That's 8 along the bottom, and 6 along the top except the corners. I think that covers all the diagonals. Any better suggestions?
Try to put 6 at the bottom and 4 on the top...and so on making a pyramide!
