I'm shocked 😲 and hurt :'( that you would talk to me like that. Makes me kind of angry 😠 Of course, I don't mean any of this 😉 So we' will be ok 😛
Good....
That confused me. 😕
You're like me. 😵

Oh well, it looks like Einstein can only come in second place...

or last, whichever catergory you prefer to put him in...

most likely last...:'(

Hmm, if it was White's turn he cant mate in 1, I dont see any en passant moves either, so maybe its Blacks turn?

1. Rb2+ Qxb2 mate
1. Rc1+ Qxc1 mate
1. Rxd1 Rxd1 mate
1. Rxb3 Nxb3 mate

Ja... I think that is the intended solution. Of course, Qxh7 works just fine.
It must be Black's turn- he couldn't have moved his King or Pawn last time, and any Rook moves are from a checking position.

Oh, I missed that aspect. But thinking about it, couldnt Black have played b1 R in last move? So its not _neccessarily_ Blacks move in that position.

About Qxh7... I dont think the board is reversed. That would be a bit too simple 🙂

Correct...that spoils the intent of the problem, which was to prove that it cannot be White's move.

Did I pass or fail? I only missed the b1=R aspect... but I think that that can be discounted a few moves tracking back.

No, ...b1R is easily a legal last move. White can un-capture something on the move before that, which gives Black something to move.

Then how can you prove the move?
How can you beat the street?

You can't prove that Black has the move. That's why I said earlier that the possibility of ...b1R spoils the problem.

Edit: I've tried various adjustments to fix the problem, but they've led to ugly positions with more material than I want on the board. The idea's been done before by better composers than I, so maybe I'll just post one of those instead.

There's an easy mate in 2... numerous ones.
While looking for the mate in 1, I found an interesting combination-
1. Nd6+ cxd6
2. Qd8#
