    that kind of thing reminds me of those puzzles my primary school teacher used to give the class

    Pretty close.

    According to the card it was "I ought not to owe for I ate nothing."

    Aught (ought) and naught (not) both being fairly antiquated terms for zero.

    Be it noted here, I did not get this one on my own. Be it also noted it is my wife who has Mindtrap.
