1) Was the room full of water, i.e. higher than 20" at some stage after the man entered the room?

Did he wet the rope which was originally longer. The rope dried out the rope shrank thus hanging the man after some considerably painful time. as the sun entered the room thus suicide in the aafternoon.

how was he able to make a knot in the cord and tie it to something he couldn't reach?
suppose there are certain knots, but wouldn't that require quite a long rope?
Does just drying make a rope so much shorter then?

ok did the suicidee enter the room from the window (near the ceiling) tie the noose around the rafter put his head in the noose drop from the window and hang himself.

The garden tap being a red herring.
