I posted a solution but it got lost:
just make a single line cut diagonally to make a triangular section
then sew it on the other end to turn the blanket into a trapezoid,
then turn the blanket a few degrees and now its longer than 6 feet
to cover the monks toes. Simplest solution.

Yes yes how could I forget, sonhouse "inventor of the trapezoid blanket"! but only 3rd place for you I'm afraid, due to the potentional logistic problems of using such a blanket (cold shoulders at the top)😉
