me too, but even the "don't look to the south in june" line works too, if you think about June 20 (longest day of the year, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west and is overhead all the time - for those of us in the middle latitudes), so it actually works there too. So why isn't it the best answer? I'm waiting for the "official answer" . . .
But not looking to the south would imply looking the exact opposite direction...

Northern Lights?

edit: forget it. It fits nothing except that line about June...

edit: what do you mean by 1969 on the moon? I know the Lunar Landing happened with the Eagle at Tranquility Base.

If you are lucky you will sleep with it tonight,
And often it is a beautiful sight.

Do not look to the south in June
But instead in !969, on the moon.

Often seen at a glance in the sky,
It can cause great illness or for you to die.
And it can be found low or high.

A message with it you can you send,
Can you guess what it is my friend?
Spider:

Spider webs are best seen in the light
Sleep with a Spider man speaker pillow , yep there is such a thing
Spiders can be beautiful if you're in to such things

The Lunar Module nickname is Spider, Yay!

Spiders can be found low or high and can be lethal

Messages can be sent via "Short Message Spider" a network application, Yay!

It's !969, not 1969 unless there was a typo.

Shift + 1 = ! so probably a typo.

Regicidal: Ok., but what about not looking to the South in June? NGC 6537 is also called the Red Spider Nebula and is in the Constellation Sagittarius, if this means that the nebula is not visible in the northern hemisphere in June (I don't understand astronomical coordinate systems) then your answer is probably right, but the question is a bit northern hemisphere centric.

Nice find. I couldn't quite make out the south in june. may be the case that the Red spider nebula is invisible in the northern hemisphere.
Edit: Actually, there is a Tarantula nebula "cosmic spider" in the southern constellation Dorado. It may be that.

"Often seen at a glance in the sky"
I might also add that there are fireworks called spiders.
