This is a nice one indeed. Usually pawn is on f6 and rook on e5 though. It's one move longer then 🙂

seems King to F5 would win a queen and facilitate the win

Which presumably makes the first move Kg5. Black cannot then cover f8 with the rook.

If Re1 then Rg1+ the king can escape to the h-file.

And if not Re1 (Re5+ for instance)?

so far none of the solutions posted are complete/correct.
remember black will settle for a draw.

and i'd like to thank everyone who is familiar with the solution for their cooperation.

    1. Kg5 Re5+ (has to or the pawn gets promoted)
    2. Kg4 Re4+ (as above)
    3. Kg3 Re3+ (as above)
    4. Kf2 (rook cannot now check and be safe... a move like Re5 hoping for Rf5+ is trivially defeated by f8=Q after Re5)

A move like Re4 isn't though, because after Re4 f8=Q Rf4+! ....White has no option but to take the rook and its stalemate.

The answer is simple, underpromote to rook, problem solved.
