Now it's the old dualism of the mind thing, trying to force yet more religous based crap on science.

Oh no, not another thread that will eventually turn over to an endless discussion about creationism vs science, and later of god and how he behaves...

This will once again be an arena for KJ to preach his anti-science views...

Hopefully we can keep it to the discussion about the mind/brain duality.
They say consciousness is not in the brain. Which is weird considering if you lose blood to the brain, you body can go on automatic but no sign of consciousness so where do these people get this stuff from? Where would it be then? In your knees?

Who cares what the creationists say? They say too much as it is.

One thing's for sure though, it is not science. Therefore what they say should be in the Spiritual Forum and not here. Don't invite them here, sonhouse, please, don't feed them...

He's not feeding anyone. He just has an ax to grind.

And those creationist idiots don't? They have much more of a political agenda than I. I just hate their guts.

As far as I know, there's only one idiot at this site posting this stuff in this forum.

Now I have to agree to Eladar. (Not about the idiot-thing though.) This thread should be in the Spiritual Forum, because it's about creationism, or will quite soon be about creationism.

So, please, create this kind of subjects in the right Forum and you will have right responses from the right people. Creationsim has nothing to do with science.

I was thinking maybe there was something scientific to discuss about the mind duality, but on reflection, they are full of crap, our consciousness has to be in our brains. Sorry for bringing it in here. Closed as far as I am concerned.

Okay, this thread is hereby closed.

A thread similar to this, I'd be happy to follow in the Spiritual Forum.

I tend to think consciousness is in the brain too, but your lose of
blood to the brain doesn't mean anything one way or another, if the
brain were just a stop along the way to where ever consciousness
does occur. It would be no different than cutting off a water supply
up stream where water powers some equipment, once the water
was cut off the equipment would suffer. I see mocking faith is still
a high priority with you without anyone bringing it up but you and
others who claim to want to avoid the topic.

Please keep on-topic. Don't let this thread be about faith.

As long it's on-topic, this can be an interesting thread to follow. But can we please discuss this in iew of Science, and not faith, religion, ID or anything else that should be written in Spiritual Forum, or elsewhere...?

Conscious thought which uses one area of the brain, depending on the task, distracts whatever thoughts create the OCD and prevents neurons firing in other regions of the brain. I'm sure its more complex than how I've described, but I don't see how they reach their conclusions of the mind and brain being a separate entity (i.e the duality).

Seems like its all brain to me.....

Bringing science to the masses is one of the greatest challenges I think currently faces 'science'. Read any journal and you will note that to understand most articles you need a damn good knowledge surrounding the subject, and we are all guilty of this, I mean try and dumb down an article for publication (it wont get published)..... its unfortunately elitism that drags us down. Even New Scientist, which does a good job at dumbing things down is still beyond the understanding of most outside of a science background.

Communcation is a key skill in science and pitching everything at the right level is something we should all aim for.

A little rant I know, which can largely be ignored :-)

If you could do the same we would all be thankful.
