I think you should read the comments all the way to the end.

Truth is that user PCs consume most of the power. The headline article makes guesses for the Second Life power numbers. An employee responds later with real numbers. And part of the argument for SL is that it will become possible to reduce travel. How feasible that is will have to be answered by someone who uses it.
