I was really excited when I heard the headline, somewhat less so when I read the details. Still pretty cool though.

Once again premature. The DNA was synthetic but the rest of the cell was not.

DNA was synthetic, but not invented. It was just a copy from another natural DNA (perhaps ith a few alterations, I don't know), nothing more.

The 'sucess' was that they had produced the DNA artificially. That's all.

I produce life every time I have a cosy moment with my girlfriend. But she takes the pill so nothing happens.
