    Pity it's CFL technology.
I don't suppose LEDs have the same colour range?

A close read says it is 5 mm longer than a CFL, the only way it could get various colors is if it is LED. It says it lasts 40,000 hours and no CFL lasts that long, it has to be LED's.

    I see.
The phrase "no longer than a standard CFL" threw me - kinda implied it
    was a non-standard CFL.

If you go to the kickstarter page, it specifies that there are RGB LEDs in it.

Yep, it would be very awkward to develop multi colored CFL's, they are just too big to fit in that kind of form factor. I never saw a single CFL that could change color.
