I remember seeing an article about that years ago. I would like to see what she sussed out about what each gesture meant.
So it came down to the one girl genius who was able to create new gestures and get her deaf friends to understand and copy.

Once you have a fundamental basis for the language, then it becomes self referential after it starts up. So a new gesture can be referenced by referring to other gestures near it in definitions and so forth.
