Although carbon capture is not the long term solution because only going 100% renewable is the long term solution, I hope that a cost-effective methods for carbon capture like this one will be developed that will buy us precious time in the medium run.

Even 1000 times cheaper means a massive effort to get rid of billions of tons of CO2. It all boils down to political will to do it.
