My dear buddy Ray Scudero RIP,and I played with piezo's when we lived in Jerusalem and we found some interesting facts about them and used them as pickups for our instruments, guitars, dulcimers and mandolins.
The gist of this piece is a thin piezo layer on a thick substrate means the substrate negatively affects the ability of the Piezo to produce sound from said combo by pumping in electricity or the opposite, using piezo's as a microphone.
I had on thought about that, if say we could coat a very thin substrate like say saran wrap, would that make the old style piezo's more sensitive as a mic?
And what this new work means for musicians looking for acoustic based pickups for their instruments?
