Yeah, like we would be here even 5 MILLION years from now🙂 Don't think the death of the sun will be much of an issue to make humans extinct.
I have a short Sci Fi about that, some geneticists around the year 2300 engineer molecules that are seeds of humanity and lots of other life forms on Earth. So the gist is they got space on a rocket bound for Europa and secretly dumped those molecules all over that moon spread out fairly evenly.
So ages come and go and Humans for sure are extinct in only a few million years. So the tides of time rush on, and the molecules way outlast humans and they didn't even know about them anyway. So humans are gone from the Solar system, maybe alive elsewhere in the galaxy, unknown, but certainly no humans in our solar system by then.
So the sun does its thing a few billion years from now, expanding and such, engulfing Earth so it is by that time about 200 million miles across and energy output way up enough so by that time it starts to warm up Europa and the molecules were designed to trigger when liquid water appears, ice melting because of solar irradiance so much higher than now. So that starts a sequence of the molecules seeking out its own kind, gathering together slowly and when enough of them get together they have a kind of intelligence built in and start to grow DNA and then building housing and infrastructure like atmosphere benign to Earth life. So that affair progresses through stages where incubators are made and then DNA assembled to make humans again and biosphere to support the newly hatched humans and the molecules also had a complete recording of science, art, music, the whole gamut of human knowledge so when the infants are able to survive outside the incubators they shift to regular rooms and robots are constructed to take care of the new human children and teach them in a school so they know the science, religions, cultures, games, languages and such which was present in the time frame of the original scientists around the year 2300. So there was a lot higher technology than we have now, like micro fusion for power and drives for spacecraft and such so 20 odd years later the children have had the equivalent of college degrees and they go about remaking humanity and spreading throughout the galaxy.
