What does the word "banded" mean in this site's context? I've seen it used here and there, but have never figured it out.

Like under 1500 under 1600 only. Or between 1500 and 1600 or any combination you want.
Make tournaments closer in theory
Downside you normally get tge same players to play against.

And then you get those who manipulate their rating so finely that they can enter two bands of the same tournament.
