Yes, why would I want that?
I'm satisfied with what I have.
IE is good enough.
Ah, good enough. The ceiling of satisfaction for the masses.
I thought IE was good enough too. Then I realised, hang on a second, all these pop-ups really annoy me. Hang on, so do all of these ads that are flashing and dancing around my screen. You know what, Rag? What's that , Rag. I am no longer in control of my browsing experience. I am being redirected around the www and I have very little control.
Then I thought, you know, there are more things that I don't like about my browsing experience at the minute. Is there anything I can do? And yes there was...
I wanted tabbed browsing, whereby all of my browser "windows" were now all within 1 window, so my taskbar wasn't cluttered.
I wanted to be able to browse to a bookmarks folder, and add the bookmark there just by clicking on Add Bookmark here.
I wanted to be able to customise google, so that I could see previews of the websites, along with being able to click on a link and be able to search for the same terms in other browsers.
I wanted to be able to see exactly how a page loading progress was going, and how big the page was.
I wanted to block flash ads which took over my browser screen when you moused over them.
I wanted to have a clock and calender on my browser window so I didn't have to keep double clicking on the system clock to find out the date.
I wanted to be able to zoom in on images on a web page within the browser.
I wanted links posted in RHP to act just like real links.
I only wanted javascript to be run on sites that I trusted.
I wanted to never see a black background with white writing again in my life.
I wanted to be able to highlight the name of a movie on any website, and be able to search IMDB for it with just 2 clicks.
I wanted to get a headsup rating of a website in google when it returned a search for me. Is this site a spam site, or a real quality site.
When I browsed to IMDB, I wanted the cursor to be set to the movie search box.
I wanted to be able to alt-click a word and be taken to a definition page.
I wanted a delete button in my gmail account.
I wanted to customise my RHP experience in hundreds of ways.
All of these desires were satiated with Firefox.
Tell me 1 annoyance that you have with your overall browsing experience, and I guarantee that you would be able to customise Firefox so that it no longer exists.
Good enough? Should we stop developing technology because what we have now is good enough?
What have you got to lose?
