Why do the flags look so much worse than before?

It took work to make the change. I can understand doing less work that results in something not looking quite as good.

But in this case, someone actually put in effort to make something look worse. Why didn't that person just take free paid time off instead?

I presume that the flag sytle was imported from somewhere so the amount of work is small, and beauty is mainly in the eye of the beholder.

The corners of the flags were a little too rounded off, so perhaps that was the issue for you? Either way, this effect has been reduced, which may improve things.
