In fact I think the count was established after people edited their posts and replies didn't fit afterwards...

There's a reason for that little "preview before post" tickbox just below the typing box. It was added years ago when this topic last appeared in Site Ideas. You can clean up your post before it goes out to the world.
Of course, it isn't useful when you're soberly reading what you posted in a fit of drunken insanity the night before. 😨

Shortly after a mail delivery the other day, I noticed one of my garden gnomes was missing.
I expect it was removed by poster

Is it just my perception or are we seeing more "removed by poster" items to scroll through these days?
Maybe it's a bit like playing chess on here.
If posters would take a minute to review their post before pressing the "post" button?
