I suggest that there be a button under each thread so that if enough people click it that thread would be ended/deleted/closed or whatever.
I have several candidates in mind.
The button could be called the "moronic thread button" or something similar perhaps.

It'll hide posts but what Strangelove wants is the ability to close threads. Not something that is really needed if only the mods would actually take charge.
