How about for the 1800+ tourneys splits and Hardcore Grands, you reduce the number of entries required to start. Or lower the bands to include 1700 players as well.

What about split-tourneys, where the better player were put in one group and the lower rated in the other one. In this wy you can fill up the tourneys quicklier and the lower rated player must only play at the final against a higher rated player 😉

i think most people like the opportunity to play the higher rated players. Besides Im talking about the 1800+ tourneys anyway.

Not true. You can't be sure if you are playing a real person or a machine on the internet.

you really shouldnt be worried about whether they are cheating or not. The purpose of playing chess is to get better. To improve your game, sure you might run into a few cheaters, but thats life. But anyway, we are getting off subject.

I don't know quite how it would be done, but might it solve this kind of thing if overdue unstarted tournaments could be "merged" with other similar tournaments in order to start?
