How about when a thumb is entered it promotes the thread, just like a posting?

that would make the thumb more meaningful and it seems right to me

Just think of the thumb-bumping that would ensue...

Would this only be thumbs up or thumbs down or both? Would thumbs down (or up) work in reverse? I wholly support thumbs down sending a thread to the bottom of the page.

How about when a post gets 9 thumbs up and one thumbs down or 11 thumbs up and one thumbs down that thumbs-down user get auto banned for the difference in days?

There's a Clans Forum!? I thought it was the IVV/Metallica forum.

Seriously, Grampy Bobby, IVV, Metallica, and RJHinds are going to do the work themselves to keep their threads at the top of their respective forums. That's why I'd be in favor of extending coquette's idea to down-bumping posts when they get thumbs down. WE all know there's some "thread domination" going on in some forums and I'd say maybe some down-bumping via thumbs-downing might be a way to remedy that problem.

thank you ever so much for your deeply insightful post based on the highest level critical thinking

could it not be possible to scale it?

rather like a thumbs-down drops it two levels? then
a second thumbs down drops it two more levels?

it doesn't have to be that easy, maybe three thumbs down bumps it four posts down

10 thumbs down drops it to the next page

10 thumbs down could seal the post

not exact proposals
just thoughts

alas, i am prepared for all the nay sayers
here it comes

i am brave
go on

Can I still have the option to keep it the way it is? 😵

I like the idea of being able to sort forums based on certain columns. Perhaps one of those columns could be 'favorably thumbed'.
