Not sure if you call them page counters, but when you look at the most recent page of a thread (the last post) that might have added on say 10 pages since you last looked at it, and you want to navigate backwards to work out who said what to whom, you have to scroll to the bottom of the page to go back one.
I like reading threads backwards sometimes, to see how debates developed and evolved. Being able to go back a page from either the top or bottom of a page would make things a bit easier.
@kmax87 saidI asked for this the week the new site came out.

It would be a QoL fix for sure.
The page links used to be numbered top and bottom in all forums.
@mwmiller saidOr even better than an up and down arrow to just take you to the top or bottom of that single forum page that could stretch all the way back to 2001, go with a double up and down arrow to go all the way to the start or end of the 'almost perpetual' single page, and a single up and down arrow to go a month or year at a time toward the top or bottom of the page.
@mlb62
Or top and bottom would work too.
And on the forum page that is a single page that goes on forever, there is an up arrow to take you to the top. How about a down arrow to take you to the end.
I know not all of the current forums go all the way back to 2001, but some do. The point of the idea is to allow us to browse back and forth from the newest to oldest threads in any forum at a quicker pace than what we now have.
I'm thinking of something similar to what we now have when we look at a game history board, with those arrows below the board that let you go back and forth through the moves one at a time or from start to end position.
Those of us who enjoy browsing through all of our forum history would sure appreciate something like that! It's entertaining to go back and take a look at some of the old characters and drama that have come and gone, and has brought us to where we are today!
Or am I the only one that gets a kick out of our ancient history? Anyway, I hope my explanation of this idea makes sense! 🙂
