    Thumbs down would work if there was a "Hall of Shame" page showing the posts that got the most. But for some reason that's just too negative for everyone.

    Removing Thumbs Down may increase posting volume to the extent that disapproval or ire requires an outlet.

    If you click on the Recommended button you see that Thumbs Up is the new Recommended.

    Yes, but Thumbs Down offers a mitigating factor.
