When you are in a thread, you should be able to turn on your webcam and replace your avatar with a live feed of yourself

Tried webcam in Thread 110661. Noone thought it was a good idea.

I posted in that 1st of april thread. stil think it might be worth a go. But I suppose it'd be hard to get the chess eggheads on cam and exposed

I wouldn't show myself on a early sunday morning. I don't think anyone else would like to see me either. But noone can force me to use a webcam so that is a no-problem.

However, a few years ago, we didn't upload a picture to the RHP server, as we do today, we just used a link to the picture we wanted to show. I used a link to a WebCam showing a street in Göteberg where I live. Every time someone accessed my profile they got the instant view, showing people, weather, etc. Really nice. It's not possible today, but with your idea it might.
