I know this has cropped up many times before, but having (and still trying) to use the search feature for the forums, it does fall far below the standards set by the rest of the site. Feels like banging ones head against a brick wall.
Is there any possiblity that something can be done to improve this?

I agree. Finding something from two weeks back, even when I remember who said what, can be a fool's errand. It would be nice to have improved search capabilities.
