    I think there should be rating limits on sieges. I was going to queue for one, but the lowest defender was 1500, and I'm 1111.

    Physically check out all the sieges so you can find a queue that has players of your rating.

    Though banded sieges does sound like a good idea.

    I've never played sieges before, but isn't that sort of the idea behind them?

    I always figured the idea was that you get a bunch of almost unbeatable guys defending and everyone tried to bring them down, giving them a chance to play someone much better in the process.

    Seems like if you band sieges you just turn them into tournaments.

    You do realise that you will have white and a draw will win you the board. It's hard to defend a siege board even against weaker opponents.
