Make them pretty generous, not just 48hrs like Tournies, maybe 1 month?

My guess is this may have been suggested before...

Well in that case Wayne01 could just take the timeout, he is still around. It's not as if it's an interesting position to play out, although not the most satisfying way to win a challenge.

Good idea though to have an automatic timeout, and given it doesn't directly influence any other games, a longer time for this seems good.

Silly me I assumed wayne01 had left the site also due to lack of action in the games, still the situation exists and something should be done to get past it.

I think auto timeouts are put on 'tournies' to prevent them from dragging on forever. Let's say someone left. Then a comp just wouldn't get finished. Whereas clan games...... ah yes, now i see. Perhaps it is a good idea.
