The weirdest thing

For a while now I noticed heavy download activity (100's of megabytes) whilst contemplating my next move. Just for the record, no I'm not running a porn or any other such dubious sites in another window/browser.

Dear RHP/TFC/etc. You got my $39 for the year, is that not enough? Please stop. This is not supposed to be a threat, but it can be.

A virus means nothing unless it becomes VIRAL.

Please STOP, more or less right about NOW>??

This site certainly isn't the problem. Check your task manager for any dubious processes.

As I said, the weirdest thing is it only happens when I'm browsing this site. I sincerely hope RHP is not up to dubious practises since I love the site. To RHP management, there is no real threat, just hate it when something like that happens. I'm sure it's just a settings problem (I really hope so)

If this was true, then a lot (and I mean really: a lot) of us would complain. You're the first one saying this.

I think your settings, or your anti-virus or fire-wall program , should be checked.

What are you running for anti-virus and malware... what browser are you using, etc.

I'm here day in and day out and I'm upload about 500MB a week, nothing like hundreds while waiting for a move.

I'm using latest versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebites and get my readings through Netmeter.

Tell us what you have and perhaps you'll get some answers to what might be going on. Could you be reading 100's of Meg wrong and its really 100's K? Are you in 'waiting for game' mode??? etc. More info, more help.

Its also a good idea to say what is going on and get some info before blaming someone for something that no one else is experiencing. Some guy on the internet blamed my company for stealing his credit card because we were the last place he charged the card. Fortunately he was on a web site that knew my company wouldn't do something like that and the people there gave him Hell for it... He called us to apologize, that's the only reason I know the story. Some of the folks from that site called later to make sure he had called in to apologize. Nothing worse for a company than false negative feedback, especially when a new customer might wonder in and not know the accuser doesn't know crap.

P, you are too right. What good is a chess player making a move without looking at ALL the possibilities? Unfortunately, we're not all masters, but here to learn about chess (and life for that matter). Got really pi***d off at the Time, must've over reacted :-) There's a lot of decent chess sites out there, but I have a soft spot for this one. Thank you for your comments (lesson learned) and leave it at that. May your rating in 2012 go up by at least 300!!!
