This is an idea which stems from the unrest caused by no1marauder's vocal frustration against engine use on this site and the mystery behind the working of the game moderator team.
It seems that Mr. Tebb has his reasons behind not publishing the names of those who have been outed as cheaters whereas a lot of us forumers tend to disagree and would like to see the names of those who have been caught and/or a progress report of some kind that would give us an idea of how effective the game mod team has been. I think we should put the idea to a vote. The results would be very telling as to what the best move for the Site would be.
So, who's with me? A vote, yes?

I vote for a vote, too. I wonder whether there should be more options than just "publish the names" and "don't publish the names", though. I am thinking of something like "give information to the person who reported the cheating / to all who are currently playing the cheater / to all who ever played the cheater (probably not a practical solution)".

All those in favour, say huh?

a) List of names
b) Number of engine users exposed
and then further options after that:
a) Tell everyone
b) Tell subscribers
c) Tell current opponents
By the following choice of methods:
a) Private Message
b) Forum Announcement
c) New page in under 'Community'
d) Telepathy
We need to realize something though.... Tebb is the one putting in the hours to catch these guys, and yet we're all in here holding a rally for him to do something against his will. If Tebb has strong feelings about not making these things public, then either we abide by his wishes or one of us becomes a mod ourselves and does what we want.

If this vote comes around, I will vote no... This would be against my personal wishes, but I'm part of a tream. I voiced my ideas to DT and Russ, and cooler heads prevailed.
On the other hand, Darv makes a good point about 'the crime'. I'm sitting on a fence with 2 legs on the side of 'not naming names'.

I was simply saying that Tebb said himself that he didn't want the engine-users "outted" publically, and that he should be the one who has the most jurisdiction (besides Russ), since he's the one doing most of the work. It's kind of like when your family all disagrees on something and a vote is called for, and it ends up a tie and then the father yells out "No, we win, 'cause my vote counts twice, cause I run this house!".... 🙂 sorta like that. I just don't think it's necessarilly right to make volunteers do something against their will, since it's their will that makes them volunteers in the first place.
