There must be some way of stopping people from signing up with multiple accounts. Perhaps by using their IP address, MAC address or a combination of both. I know it is not a huge issue, but what it would also accomplish, is the complete eradication of anyone who deserves to be wiped out in this unfortunate manner.ie. A complete ban. This would definately stop people abusing the site and forums, if they knew that they would have no way of getting back onto the site (Other than changing their NIC or making other costly adaptations to their machines).
Originally posted by jimslyp69Great idea, impossible to do. Sometimes people use a family e-mail: you can't ban those who didn't do anything. People can easily change e-mail addresses, it isn't hard to do, and you'll never catch up with them all.

Go for it, I'd say, but you'll need a lot of luck.

But I tend towards turning a blind eye. Normally they are harmless.
I went on a games site ages ago and they had a policy of no multiple accounts in the TOS. I decided to hvae a go for a laugh and within 48 hours, both my accounts were wiped. Don't know how they did it, but they did. Anyway, as you said Moshi, It isn't that big a deal, but I just thought it might get rid of some unwanted idiots like myself. 😛

I can see one problem. Two users using the same PC/Internet connection. I have the PC/internet and my partner uses this to play here too. How can you tell the difference between this and one person with multiple users?
PS Good point.
Another point that you have made me realise is that, if somebody used a public machine such as one in a library, then it would be impossible to police, unless you banned that machine completely, and that wouldn't be fair on any legitimate users.
