Perhaps you missed the humor...I will explain

my questions were your questions in your original post, I just turned them around on you.

The joke is, you are complaining about debates, and you have sparked a debate in the process.

Don't get the wrong idea, I do agree with your general premis, but the debates forum has a useful purpose...it keeps the nonsense out of the chess forum.

    regards,

    Brian

p.s. I usually do think before I respond (like you suggested), and I would encourage you to try harder to understand the message before responding as well.

i think some questions can bring about a unique clear and concise answer.
these questions do not suit debates.

other questions have many correct answers.
the debates forums suit these questions.
most people choose to prefer one answer over another.
when two people have differring opinions they often like to debate the validity of their chosen answer with others choosing a different answer.

when two people have different answers they can debate til they are blue in the face ... typically neither will budge, and their opinions simply become more entrenched.

a left winger and a right winger can argue their superiority forever, as can supporters of the methods of each sex.

some debaters become more ENRAGED as the debate progresses, some become bored, most people feel satisfaction that they have had their say.

unfortunately almost noone ever really listens and is open to changing their own viewpoint.

And how do you know this? Have you done some
    study with conclusive evidence?

Or is this just a 'feeling' that you have?

I, for one, have learned a great deal by reading
and engaging in the debates forum.

i seem to remember a thread a while back asking for anyone who had changed their mind as a result of a debate, at the last time i saw that thread noone had admitted to changing their mind!

i tried to find the thread and failed, so i started a new one:
    http://www.redhotpawn.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=18005&page=1

by the way : you say you learned lots ... as have i, but did you ever change you opinion? if so, then on what issue?

Your presumption that the debates forum is just the
product of unexpressed libido is bigotted and hateful.
    You should be ashamed.

    Lol. That hurts, no?
Mea culpa. It wasn't directed against you...

But you can't denny that, it's, IMHO, 90% true in most cases.

If you say 'No', please reread your own postings against pcaspian.

In any case, with my due respect, you are an hypocrite.
    Point.

That said I'm leaving the thread.

    Fight your own ghost.

My posts to pcaspian have nothing to do with my
machismo. I think that he, like you, has a lot of
misguided opinions. I strive to expose those
failings in this thought process to help make him
    a better person.

Your nasty comments about my (and others'😉
supposed motivations are based in your own
obvious hatred of conflict which you associate
with men. I'm sorry you have this problem.

That said I'm leaving the thread.

Too bad. You don't want to learn, you just
want to be a troll, drop 'hate-bombs' and
    leave.

A handful of people have helped shape my opinions
and views of things. I haven't made any 180 degree
turns on anything, but I am certainly opened to it.
But I can list at least four people who have moved
at least several degrees on a number of issues.

Just because a few people said that they were rigid
doesn't mean all people are so closed-minded, or
    even 90% like CLT suggests.

    Fight your ghost. my dear.

May be it could explain what I was saying. I'm giving up, not because I can't argue with you. You and me (I think) both have good points, and I respect your opinions, believe it or not.

But I can't argue with you 'cos my english is way too bad.
In the midtime, that is until I learn to exprexx my ideas in a more clear way, I'll continue to drop what you call hate bombs.

    Take care.

P.S.: who the hell told you I don't want to learn? And learn from who? You? Bajate del caballo, y aprendé a aprender de los demás.

    Dear CLT,

By leaving a thread after droping nasty comments
without repenting of them, you are demonstrating
that you don't want to learn.

I'm not on a high horse, as such, by saying that
your comment was bigotted towards an unjust
stereotype of men; you are in the gutter.

You won't learn if you continue to leave threads
after someone has tried to explain something to
you. You certainly won't learn if you ostracize those
who are willing to teach by continuing to make nasty
    comments.

I read Spanish just fine, in any event. I'm rusty, but
    I can read it.
