Are there more blind or sighted people in this world?
People constantly ask each other, "What are you doing?"
Despite the fact that they have a pair of eyes to decide with, they still ask the question. For example, if I was rolling down a hill and a person asked me what I was doing, they can see what I was doing, yet the person still asks what I was doing. Yes, it is strange rolling down a hill for no apparent reason, but hell, they got a bloody pair of eyes, now I'm sure I don't have to ask, "Do people have a brain or not?"
I conclusion I believe that there are more blind people than sighted.
You decide what you think, this is my personal view and could also be many others as well.
Originally posted by HareKrishna1I too believe there to be more "blind" people in the world. There are different classifications of blindness in my mind. There is spiritual blindness, intellectual blindness, literal blindness, etc. We all have a sliver of reality we are exposed to in this world. Then when we are exposed to it, we must interpret what we have been exposed to. This adds to the "blindness" in my view. Such intepretations are subjective and based on personal bias and beliefs. To top it all off, most of these subjective intepretations come from the five senses which, in and of themselves, are finite and limited and subject to trickery. For example, there are sounds we cannot hear and optical illusions that we cannot detect and deceptions that we have trouble percieving. I think the most destructive blindness comes in the form of greed, however. Most people are shortsided and strive for instant personal gain and gratification. Little to no thought is made for long term investment. As the saying goes, "Eat drink and be merry for tommorow we will die"! If you don't believe most people in this world are blind, just look at the world around you and the mess its in. Percieving the masses to be blind as bats is a no brainer in my mind.

Originally posted by HareKrishna1I think your example shows that there are more than one set of eyes so to speak. There are the physical eyes. And there are the understandings of different types. We might say that these various understandings are other kinds of "eyes".
