Well, regarding a 'main message', I have a hunch that if Jesus was really crucified, then all of mankind benefits. No strings attached.
It is utterly impossible and risible to claim that one can extrapolate this as being the "main message" of the Bible.

Then I will await, with much anticipation, what Suzianne thinks the 'main message' of the Bible is.

Where did you get the "no strings attached" idea from? Have you never read the NT in your life? It's replete with "strings".

I know. But I don't believe it.

If Jesus was really crucified for the benefit of mankind, then He would be a petty, trivial person if He put such nonsense as a 'clause' to reap the benefits.

If you don't believe in the Bible, on what basis are you making these claims?

It's what makes sense.

If we are forced to believe in Jesus, or forced to love Him in order to go to Heaven, then it becomes blackmail or extortion.

If you don’t believe in the Bible, where are you getting this idea that "we are forced to believe in Jesus, or forced to love Him in order to go to Heaven"?

Let me rephrase that. If you don’t believe in the Bible, on what basis are you talking about "Jesus" at all, and why?

I didn't say that I don't believe in the Bible, just that some portions of it are doubtful.

Your pursuit of my Bible belief is neglecting the points I am making.

Is Jesus petty? Is God petty?

Are they really sending people to hell for not believing in them? For not loving them?

What was wrong with the various answers the smattering of Christians here gave you on the umpteen previous times you asked these questions?

I don't agree with them.

So you are looking for a Christian who's going to tell you that the NT says there are "no strings attached" and then you will believe - and agree with - whoever tells you this?

Ummm, no.

It's my belief.

Which part of the NT supports your "no strings attached" belief?

For the record, I also thought moonbus' opening lecture to cheney was quite spot on advice, especially considering most advice from atheists consists only of the "wake up and smell the coffee" variety. Cheney has shown a remarkable ability to skip the main message of the Bible and focus only on extraneous things which basically mean nothing. He could definitely use a bit more direction in what his focus should be on when examining the Bible.
Agreed.
