Christianity and Islam, scurge of mankind.

That's my opinion in a nutshell. Those two religions have been
the cause of more death and misery, holding back the progress
of the human race for two thousand years. The rank and file
have nothing to do with it, its the thrice damned leaders who would
never in a million years actually participate in a war themselves
but convince weak minded souls to kill, rape, pillage and expand
their empire of hate. They are no more about real spirituality
than the man in the moon. The leaders of these so-called religions
are after power over people and most especially after power over
women, whom they disparage as the weakness in the earth.

Anyways, personally, I think religion was just a way in the past of inticing people to obey the law. Think of it, 2000 years ago, there were no forensics, science didn't exist that well, to convict someone of a crime, you depended completely on witnesses, so the idea of "thou shall not kill", "thou shall not steal", "thou shall no bear false witness", or you go to hell, was a means leaders used 2000 years ago to control the populace as law abiding citazens, it's nothing more then a fantasy of fear to obey the law, at a time evidence was hard to get. Honestly, I don't think we need religion anymore, although religious like plots make good fantasy books and RPG games...

Also at that time, there was no such thing as jail time, prisons were
unheard of. Dungeons were to keep people temporarily because
they were to be put to death, usually in unspeakably painful ways
like lions in the arena or made to fight a professional soldier and you
are just a farmer, he toys with you cutting off a hand first, etc.
Yet here we are two thousand years later with the leftover dogma
that is Islam and Christianity. The problem is, and people don't seem
to understand the severity of this problem, There are laws supposedly
from god that directly contradict one another. In some parts of africa
its ok to mutilate the clitoris of your wife to be so she will feel no
sexual pleasure, The Jews don't eat pigs and milk together, from god.
The Muslims don't eat FISH and milk together, etc., etc., ad nauseum.
They can't all be right, god would not say to one people you NEED to
kill if they don't believe, and the other Thou shalt not kill. I wish
people would take that extremely seriously and look VERY close at
what that means. It means they can't both be coming from god
so the extremely most likely path here is NEITHER story in fact came
from any god, just men setting up situations which makes them
a power base and a means to control men but more importantly,
a means to subjugate women. There was a time say, ten thousand
years ago or more, when women ruled the roost, then the
barbarian hords came down into the island nations and turned that
all upside down into a male god dominated society which it has
been ever since in just about every country on earth. Not that I am
especially for or against female dominated societies but these
so-called religions were specifically designed in part to subjugate
woman and cause death and destruction wherever they raised their
ugly heads, based on the self evident superiority of THEIR particular
form of their particular religion.

As I said, religion was just stuff drawn up by politicians 2000-1000 years ago trying to model their country/society, as they see fit. That's why each religion is different, and with different branches. Religion is nothing but a political device, and like all politicians, they were corrupt.

If people are too weak-minded to see through the lies of their leaders, then they deserve the fate they get. Where is the accountability for the individual to think for him/herself?

You forget - some of the Sinhalese fighters/bombers are Buddhists.

The Sinhalese are Buddhists. The Sinhalese are in opposition to the Tamils. It's the Tamils that have an 'outstanding' record as suicide bombers.

But yes, there aren't a whole lot of Christians or Muslims on either side of that conflict.
