Do you people think that people on other planets celebrate Christmas ? If Jesus is Lord of the universe then he must be known throughout the inhabited worlds that spin through space, and time don't you think ? Maybe Jesus is born on all inhabited worlds, and dies the same way he did here, and that is just his way of doing things. It would be a good way to truely understand creatures of flesh, and blood like ourself.
Originally posted by buckkyThere is no reason to assume that cultures on other planets would make up the exact same myths about Jesus as ours did. If they are aware of Jesus at all it is entirely probable that their understanding of him is radically different from our mainstream interpretation. Their Jesus myths might be totally unrecognizable to us and it is impossible to predict what manner of holidays they would celebrate in connection with that (if any).

You mean like with god's alleged existence? Something which we don't know and for which there is no evidence. We shouldn't speculate about that?
How many times do we have to go through this? The universe didn't just happen by itself. That is just stupid. Even science tells us that nothing happens without a cause.
God caused the creation. There is no other explanation. See how easy that is to understand. π
Originally posted by josephwIf nothing happens without a cause, then what caused god? If you can claim that god does not require a prior cause, then I can just as easily claim that the universe itself does not require a prior cause. My explanation has the benefit of being far more parsimonious. By introducing 'god' as an original causal agent you are introducing a whole new layer of complication which raises many more questions than it answers.

So to answer your question, we will apparently go through this for as long as we both continue to post on this site.

Originally posted by buckkyThere is only one possibility if they do celebrate Christamas when we do here on earth, especially since December 25 is not Christ's real birthday. The only possibility is if pagan cults sprung up on these other planets and were converted by missionaries and the missionaries converted one of their pagan holidays, which started on December 25th, into a celebration of Christ's birthday. If nothing else, I think Robbie would enjoy this post. π
