Does it matter who we think has more credibility? It matters what the truth is. Everyone is flawed, and we can all be in error. If you are going to look at who you think is right and only believe them, you are not seriously looking at the evidence for yourself. Can anyone be corrected if all they do is say, “Because my pastor said this, it’s true,” or” because that scientist said this, it’s true.

Not all pastors agree, not all scientists agree on these questions, and others do not agree on other questions. In my opinion, to act that way relies on those you agree with when looking for the truth, which is lazy and unhelpful. There would be zero hope of being corrected if something suggested is wrong. You have no hope of being shown you are wrong if you do not define very specifically what you believe and why, because so-and-so said so is not helpful at all.

There is only one person on the planet who is infallible: the Pope. At any rate, in ecclesiastical matters.

The problem with is this: since only the Pope is infallible, we cannot know for an absolute certainty who the Pope is. That guy in the white robes might be an impostor.

The Pope is just a guy, the only man infallible is Jesus Christ. He is the only one who knew where He came from and knew where He was going when He left here.

But that is neither here or there, my point remains that the truth is only constrained by reality not our opinions of it. If it were only by our opinions, than our opinions could paint innocents as demonic, or Nazi, and they would be no matter what. Every disagreement would not just be a disagreement it would be and attack on ones personhood if their very opinion about themselves were being undermined.
