I think this may have been for health reasons back in those days. Don't forget that they were wondering in the wilderness for 40 years and the sanitation may have not been to good under those conditions. The Apostle Paul did not seem to worry about such things in his day.

A lot of the recipes and preparation methods to really give your dish that cutting edge finish been badly translated in the bible so that the result is a sort of bland hodge ,podge confusing message.
About the only thing consistent with the rest of the book....

The Holy Bible is not giving a recipe for preparing young goat meat. It is only saying how not to cook it. The following link gives recipes if that is what you want:
