@divegeester saidGifts should be used. Why hide your light under a barrel?
James 3: 1
“Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly”
Good advice?

@divegeester saidVery good advice. Some Christians do not like James, who condemns the faith only Christians with the statement faith without works is dead, and states that people are also saved by works. Similarly many false teachers would not like this statement. Teachers who mimic cult leaders instead of preaching what Jesus said are in a particularly serous situation.

This is especially good advice when you hear someone teach something you don't want to hear about.
Of course James didn't say "don't be a teacher". He said the teacher will be judged with greater strictness because we all stumble. I think that is the tone.
"Do not become many teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive greater judgment. For in many things we all stumble."
I do.
We can't all be Rajk999.
He never stumbles.
"If anyone does not stumble in word, this one is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well." (James 1:1-4)
James is placing the sober sense of responsibility on those who would teach.
All the Christians should let the Lord work on them so that we may all
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another . . ." (Col. 3:16)

@divegeester
I dunno about the reasoning, but I'd certainly agree, teaching is a thankless and nowadays needlessly difficult profession.
@sonship saidThe advice is for the potential teacher, not the listener.

Did you understand the scripture?

@divegeester
I understand the scripture some. I could always understand the scripture better.
I am opened to someone else illuminating some additional help from any scripture I have read.
I do so with some discernment. The exposition has to taste right to my spiritual intuitive sense of what draws me closer to Christ.
@sonship saidHow is it that you make so many mistakes when quoting the bible. To me that is an indication of stupidity. You do not know how to copy and paste these references and avoid errors? Apparently you try to type it in hence your errors.James 3: 1

James 1 1-4
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. (James 1:1-4 KJV)
@sonship saidI think you just misunderstood what was written.
Folks, PLEAESE don't think you "understand" any passage from the Bible in such a way that there is nothing more to be seen in that passage.
@sonship saidI think you just misunderstood the scripture which was aimed at the potential teachers, not the listeners, which was what your reply to me was doing.

I took it as an opportunity to point out that the "good advice" of it may be used to rationalize not being taught.

To get into this verse one really has to consider from verse 1 all the way to verse 12. That whole section is on self control over the most unruly member of the body, the human tongue.
It is hard to bridle.
It is a small member but has tremendous effect and influence.
It can be compared to the small rudder of a large ship.
It can set a fire with destruction a whole lot though it is so small.
It can contaminate the rest of the body.
It is like hell itself, like Gehenna in its destructive power.
It untamable (without the grace of God).
If it is tamed you must be a perfect man.
It should not speak both bitterness and sweetness.
With this backdrop James opens , in essence - "Let there not be many teachers because you will be held more responsible for what your tongue does."
