"...but to make sport for our neighbors, and to laugh at them in our turn?"

--Mr. Bennett, in Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

He put his finger on what's new under the sun, and what's new in this forum: how we abuse, amuse, and infuriate each other is new every morning.

Hee hee!

I am amused and infuriated at your reply, and I also somehow feel abused.

I like Whitman's take in 'O Me! O Life!'

To paraphrase Whitman, he asked what was the point of life? And then answered that we can contribute and play a role in life's great adventure ...

'Twas a wonderful movie. Seen it several times. Like the BBC version best, with Colin Firth.

If one remembers that we are animals, certainly procreation is one of the basic necessities. I suppose it might even be considered important to our survival.

What's the matter? Are you afraid that no woman would have you for a proper husband?

I'm not sure that I follow that? You think that because he likes that that he's "afraid" (?) no 'proper' woman would marry him? I'm sure that there are many 'proper' women who want a stud for a husband.

I like to mournicate. It's a little like necrophilia, I guess, but it's the tears and gnashing of teeth and tearing out of hair that doit for me.

Seems indeed that it is a person's morality which determines his/her theology and not the other way around.
